(Last Updated On: April 17, 2021)

Feeding your pet should be, in theory, fairly straight-forward and stress-free. However there are certain situations which make it impossible for owners to constantly be present for feeding time. Although this is a favorite activity for your pet, they might fail to realize that traffic, long meetings and accidents are unfortunately part of our daily lives.

I will introduce the Ergo autopetfeeder in this post, a product which is designed to remove this stress, and to help you manage your pet’s feedings needs in a simple and efficient way.

It’s not everyday that you can find a product which accommodates for different pet sizes. This is just one of the things that I love about Ergo auto pet feeder. It comes in 3 sizes: small, medium and large, and that’s great for me and other owners who have more than one pet.

For example, the small size is suitable for animals which weigh less than 10 pounds, or 0.45 kg. The unit is able to hold approximately 5 pounds of food, and you can stick any shape type food in there without a problem.

The medium sized one works perfectly for my cats, and it accommodates for pets which weigh between 10 and 25 pounds, or 4.5 kg to 9 kg. It works with a food pellet which is about 3/4 “ in diameter, and again, the shape of the food will not pose a problem.

In comparison, the large size product can feed big pets, usually around 25 lbs or more, and that’s because it has a holding capacity of 9 kg or 20 lbs. I tend to use it for feed my dog (which helps me not have the ‘crazy cat lady’ nickname), because being a big dog requires multiple feedings and bigger-sized portions.

Something else you should know about this product is how often it can dispense food. A lot of automatic pet feeders can do so about 6 times per day, however this product can provide up to 8 feedings. This is specifically helpful for animals which have health conditions such as diabetes, or for when you’re trying to control your pet’s diet.

In order to make your life even easier, the creators supplied the product with a digital timer, and that will help you schedule fully customizable feedings. For example, say that you have an invaluable meeting on Friday. Although you usually tend to be home by 19:00, you may choose to set a one-food feed for that time, just in case you’ll be late.

In terms of the actual device, the name says it all: it has an ergonomic design, meaning that it’s designed for efficiency and comfort, and it does just that. It’s not a bulky or unattractive product, so it can easily fit into your lifestyle. The unit consists of a storage container, a bowl and a digital timer, and although the assembly process is supposed to be as easy as pie, the truth is that it may pose a bit of a challenge for some.

Features

The great thing about it is that it dispenses food up to 8 times per day, meaning that you can rest assured that your pet is getting the nutrition it needs, even if you’re not around.

The second feature which makes things nice and easy is that the product works with an AC adapter, and has back-up batteries. In other words, you won’t need to worry about the possibility of the pet feeder running out of juice, or that a power cut has disrupted the scheduled feedings.

Another great characteristic is the daylight saver, which will not only save valuable energy, but will also aid in protecting the environment. In addition, there is a comprehensive 90 days warranty, which can be extended for another 2 whole years, provided that you pay for it.

In terms of the size, because the product comes in 3 different sizes, there are different dimension which characterize the feeder. More specifically, the small size is 10 X 10 X 19 inches and weighs 9 pounds or 4 kg. The medium size is 10 x 10 x 23 inches and 7 pounds or 25 x 25 x 58.42 cm and 3.17 kg. In comparison, the large unit is 10 x 10 x 26 inches and a total of 8 pounds, and if you follow the European measurements, they are as follows: 25 x 25 x 66 cm and 3.62 kg.

While the differences between the 3 are not earth-shattering, it is helpful and convenient to have a product which takes into consideration different pet sizes and food needs.

Tips

Although I have mentioned the backup battery, if you are away on holiday you may choose to opt for plugging it into a UPS system, and that’s just in order to guarantee that it won’t stop. Additionally, before leaving your pet for long periods of time by themselves, you should make sure that they accept it and that they are not trying to constantly open it or break it.

Conclusion
