Simply Nourish Dog Food Experience
If your dog has skin allergies, it is worth giving this brand a try. Our dogs have skin allergies and lesions and after a vet’s recommendation, yes you guessed it, no more scratching and painful scabs now! That was the main reason why we tried Simply Nourish for our dogs and it did help with the problem.
We have also read many other comments from customers who swear by Simply Nourish when it comes to their dogs’ skin allergies.
Pros and Cons: You Decide
- All of their natural recipes contain real protein as the first primary ingredient. This helps support a healthy heart and body.
- Real wholesome ingredients that the average person can recognise!
- Fruits and veggies sourced from local Midwestern farms
- Different products to cater to different sizes of dogs. Smaller breeds require optimal protein and calorie levels while larger breeds need more glucosamine and chondroitin to help with any hip or joint problems.
- Fruits and veggies used are dried (freeze dried) – not as good as the fresh ones some of the more expensive brands use. But having fruits and veggies is still a plus point.
- The use of canola oil can be controversial as they can sometimes be derived from genetically modified sources. In this case, it’s unconfirmed so we don’t know for sure.
The Verdict
Overall, we give Simply Nourish Dog Food 4 STARS. We consider it a good quality, healthy, high mid-tier range dog food. There are more expensive, better brands out there. But for the price and quality, Simply Nourish is the perfect above-average affordable choice for household who wants the best diet for their dogs.
There has been debate on where Simply Nourish Dog Food is made and the source of the food. We will cover the debate in another post as there is a lot of information to digest in that one! Some people have claimed to find information that the food is made in China. However, we need to put together all the different informational sources and verify claims.
Very helpful thank you. Just started transitioning my puppy onto Simply Nourish tidy, we will see how she feels. We have spent hundreds in the last few month to find. Food that agrees with her sensitive skin and stomach .
I’ve had my 2 yr old shih tzu on Simply Nourish since she transitioned from puppy food. She loves the taste and I noticed she has a lot less gas than when she was on Blue Buffalo puppy food. I’ve been very pleased so far.
We buy simply nourish canned dog food for our dog. We were really happy with the chicken and rice, chicken and pasta, chicken and beef. What I am upset about is that you changed you product. The can is larger which is a good thing but the product is not the same. It use to be packed with chicken that looked like people food. Now it looks like it is soupy and with more by products. It’s just not the same. Why change a good thing.?
We recently bought Simply Nourish canned for for our 4-year old Shih Tzu
/Pomeranian who has always been a very picky eater. He loves it and gobbles it up every day. Do you feel that the canned food is also 4-stars? He also eats dry food, but another brand. I’m now thinking of transitioning him to Simply Nourish. Thank you for your quick reply.
We fed our black lab Simply Nourish as a puppy and are transitioning to the adult food now. She has a sensitive stomach and this is the only brand I’ve found that doesn’t make her sick. Her coat is super shiny, too!! Very pleased with this product.
I have used Nutro no grain since it came out – most dog allergies are the wheat and corn in the dog food. I had a bulldog that had those sensitivities.. and went to a brand that had no wheat or corn. his rashes and hot spots were ended! and he lived 13 years. the Nourish interests me, however, I will not buy any pet food that gets ingredients from China or out of the country.. so until I can find that information, I will continue to purchase the Nutro no grain, salmon formula. I have a shih Tzu also and this is the only dry food that he’ll eat. I also feed my cats the nutro dry food and have no health issues with them. I have a female cat that is 19, and two that are 13, they are very active and still want to play.
They changed the canned food recipe and discontinued their “pure” brand much to the detriment of my dog. The new recipe caused gastric distress which caused vomiting. The gentle to the stomach wet food they had is now gone. They should go back and stop trying to imitate the “Blue Buffalo” brand. Thankfully they have not yet messed with the dry food, at least that is the same. I guess I am back to cooking my dogs moist food prevent further vomiting.
My boxer was on a special medicated prescribed dog food for his IBS. The bag was $89 dollars a bag and I was buying two large bag a month. I love my fur baby but the price was killing me so I decided to start looking at other options. I tried Blue Buffalo, Wellness,Purina and Nothing worked. So I tried Simply Nourish Grain free chicken and rice and problem solved, Vet visits are no longer needed……Thank You so much I have two happier Fur Baby The Pit Bull is also allergic to beef!!!
Started my puppy on the large breed lamb and rice puppy formula and now my puppy is 7 mos and pet smart no longer carries the larger bags where can I find this food
We gained a stray in June of 2016. You could tell she had been severely abused. If you tried to pet her she would curl herself into a ball to brace for the pain. My heart just broke. I did not know what to do to help her…Lucky I found the Simply Nourish Freeze dried treats. I cannot tell you how much growth we have accomplished. I am teaching her to sit and lay. I am also starting to work with the stay command. I am reluctant to do no because of the abuse but we will get there too. The treats have been a life saver for her. She loves them and just goes nuts when she sees me coming with them. Alsome product.
I recently had to transition my 9 year old dog from science diet to simply nourish. She stopped eating the science diet she had eaten for the last 8 years and she loves the simply nourish. I tried so many other brands, but this is one she decided she would eat and not just let it sit there and get thrown out. It was too hard to find science diet and some of the food looked old, so the simply nourish works quite well. She also get simply nourish dry as well.
